Procurement Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

Hy-Vee, a retail-focused company, offers a summer 2027 procurement internship at its West Des Moines corporate office. The internship supports the procurement department with buying analysis and program efficiency work, Monday through Friday at 40 hours per week. It is part of the Hy-Vee Supply Chain Internship program, which includes facility tours and organized networking.

Key responsibilities

• Research vendor and buying efficiencies.
• Provide the Purchasing group with timely analytics and fact-based evaluations to support strategic and tactical decisions.
• Perform cost and performance analysis specific to purchasing operations.
• Collaborate with supply chain functions (demand planning, product supply, transportation) to optimize purchasing objectives such as inventory levels and minimizing out-of-stocks.
• Report to work when scheduled and on time.

Required profile

• Working toward or recently acquired a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Economics, Statistics, Marketing or similar.
• Strong interpersonal communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and data analysis skills.
• Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams at all levels.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
• General computer skills, including the ability to learn internal applications.
