About the role
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is seeking a Procurement Coordinator to manage the acquisition of goods and services that support regional programs. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with government procurement standards while delivering value to the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities for a wide range of goods and services using various acquisition methods.
- Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and oversee the process through contract award.
- Conduct bid and quote requests, issue purchase orders, and track order fulfillment.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert on procurement policies, procedures, and OMB standards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- At least three years of experience in procurement, preferably within local government, nonprofit, or related public‑sector environments.
- Strong background in procuring commodities and complex services.
- Ability to develop detailed bid specifications and manage the full RFP process.
Required skills
- Proficiency with purchase order software.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
