Process Technician

About the role

BASF is seeking a Process Technician to join its 24/7 chemical plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. You will work rotating 12‑hour shifts to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility, supporting the production of high‑value chemicals.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare solutions according to batch sheets and formula cards, and handle transfer to tanks, trucks, and railcars.
• Operate and monitor basic process controls such as valves, flow, pressure, level, and temperature instruments.
• Run processing equipment including compressors, pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, steam boilers, forklifts, hoists, and flare systems.
• Work in all weather conditions and perform overtime as needed.
• Assist with plant troubleshooting, equipment preparation for service, and return of equipment to operation.
• Use required personal protective equipment, including full‑face respirators when applicable.

Required profile

• 2‑year associate or technical degree in Chemical Process Technology or equivalent, OR a high school diploma with at least 2 years of chemical/manufacturing experience, OR transferable experience from military, firefighting, or mechanical repair.
• Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP.

Required skills

• Solution preparation and batch‑sheet interpretation.
• Control‑valve, flow, pressure, level, and temperature monitoring.
• Operation of compressors, pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, steam boilers, forklifts, hoists, and flare systems.
• Use of PPE such as full‑face respirators.
• Ability to work rotating 12‑hour shifts and overtime.
