Process Engineer – Performance Materials

About the role

We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our Performance Materials team in Sparta, Tennessee. In this role you will ensure safe, stable, and efficient production of polymer materials while driving continuous improvement across the compounding operation.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize process rates, yield, uptime, quality, safety, and equipment performance.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and compounding issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects to simplify processes, reduce cost, and standardize best practices.
• Manage product qualifications and scale‑ups, including capability trials and new product introductions.
• Support capital projects, equipment design, specifications, safety upgrades, and waste‑reduction initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership to Process Engineering Specialists, Engineering Technicians, and production teams.
• Maintain accurate process documentation, operating conditions, and SPC‑driven process control.
• Share best practices across sites and contribute to network‑wide manufacturing strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Polymer Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
• Experience leading and guiding engineering technicians, specialists, or production teams.
• Strong knowledge of SPC, root‑cause analysis, and continuous‑improvement methodologies (Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred).
