About the role
Covington is seeking a non‑practicing Pro Bono Attorney to support its nationally recognized pro bono program. Based in the San Francisco office, this full‑time role focuses on expanding access to justice, especially in immigration matters, and driving high participation across the firm’s California offices.
Key responsibilities
- Source pro bono matters that match the needs of underserved communities and the interests of California‑based attorneys.
- Interface with legal‑services providers, evaluate referrals, screen for conflicts, and staff appropriate teams.
- Maintain relationships with community providers and track attorneys’ pro bono interests.
- Develop immigration‑related resources, monitor emerging developments, and support related training.
- Coordinate pro bono partnerships with fee‑generating clients under guidance of Pro Bono Counsel.
- Maintain internal workflow systems, pro bono database, and accurate records of representations.
- Manage transition of matters for departing attorneys and ensure restaffing across U.S. offices.
- Organize pro bono trainings and related events.
- Uphold confidentiality, discretion, and integrity with all sensitive information.
Required profile
- Licensed attorney with experience in pro bono coordination.
- Familiarity with immigration law and related developments.
- Strong organizational and relationship‑building abilities.
- Ability to manage databases, workflow systems, and detailed records.
