PRN Pharmacy Technician – Float (Bessemer & Shelby)

About the role

This PRN (as‑needed) Pharmacy Technician position supports multiple oncology clinic locations in Bessemer and Shelby, Alabama. The role focuses on safe preparation, compounding, dispensing, and distribution of sterile and non‑sterile hazardous medications.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense intravenous hazardous and non‑hazardous medications while adhering to PPE and regulatory requirements.
• Manage hazardous drug waste, documentation, and inventory, including investigational drug handling and shortage mitigation.
• Support CADD pump preparation, drug shortage strategies, and equipment monitoring per SOPs.
• Perform daily purchasing activities, vendor coordination, and inventory control to minimize waste and manage high‑cost items.

Required profile

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.
• Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique per USP <797> and USP <800>.
• Completion of required continuing education (3 hours, including 1 live credit hour).

Required skills

• Hazardous drug handling and PPE compliance.
• USP <797> and USP <800> aseptic techniques.
• CADD pump operation.
• Inventory management and drug shortage mitigation.
