Principal Software Engineer - Loom

About the role

Atlassian is looking for product-minded Principal Engineers for its Loom product. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role sitting at the intersection of deep technical craft and sharp product judgment, owning customer-facing products end to end across the full stack and shaping what gets built. The role is open to remote work from San Francisco, Seattle, New York and Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Own customer-facing product experiences end to end, taking ambiguous problems to shipped, measured outcomes
• Lead technical strategy and the implementation of large-scale features and systems
• Partner with product, design, data and engineering to influence product strategy and direction
• Evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance and customer impact
• Contribute to system design, code reviews, documentation and best practices with security, performance and reliability in mind
• Mentor and level up the engineering organization

Required profile

• 10+ years of full-stack experience in product and platform engineering
• Proven ability to architect, build and operate large-scale, distributed systems and user-facing applications
• Experience establishing operational excellence, automated testing strategies, production telemetry and managing service reliability
• Strong product and UX mindset
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, able to influence across teams and organizations
• Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, mentorship and an inclusive, high-performing engineering environment

What we offer

• Base pay for new hires: Zone A $209,700-$273,775, Zone B $188,730-$246,398, Zone C $174,051-$227,233 (US); Canada CA$172,800-CA$225,600
