Principal Project Manager - Capital Projects

About the role

Roche Genentech is hiring a Principal Project Manager for its capital delivery group in Pharma Technical Operations Technology (PTT), based in Hillsboro, Oregon. PTT builds new assets for the manufacturing network of drug substance, drug product and device facilities. The project manager leads large and complex facility and equipment improvement projects in the US manufacturing network and may be asked to deliver projects at international sites.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead the project team, motivating it through strong communication and leadership and keeping the project flowing
• Collaborate closely with the User Team Lead and other key customers
• Champion design and construction safety, engaging the Safety, Health and Environment team throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage scope and schedule within the agreed business case, keeping the team aligned to the execution strategy and funding strategy
• Present to the Steering Committee regularly and lead funding requests with site leadership, finance and senior executives
• Sourcing and selecting major suppliers with support from global procurement
• Deliver the project from early concept through design, construction, commissioning and qualification, staying present at the site until the business intent is met

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or construction
• 10+ years managing projects in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with 5+ years on large, complex projects, some preferably international
• National project assignment of 1 to 3 years as required
• Preferred: MS in Engineering, MBA and/or PE/equivalent

Required skills

• Proven expertise in advanced project management tools and methodologies
• Broad understanding of engineering disciplines, in-depth knowledge of one related to Roche's manufacturing business
• Biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical process and facility design knowledge, plus solid understanding of cGMP requirements
• Risk-based qualification and Lean Construction knowledge and practice

What we offer

• Expected salary range of $119,900 - $222,700 for a position based in Oregon, depending on experience, qualifications and location
• A discretionary annual bonus may be available
