Principal Network Engineer

About the role

The Principal Network Engineer will lead the design, specification, and governance of network architectures that support SCADA, PLC, and industrial automation systems across enterprise environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and standardize network segmentation strategies aligned to OT cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, zero‑trust).
• Architect and oversee physical connectivity, IP schema, VLAN strategies, and firewall policies for complex OT environments.
• Lead root‑cause analysis of network and infrastructure issues, establishing best practices and improving reliability.
• Guide early‑stage solution development, reviewing system designs, RFQs, and project requirements for scalability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in IT, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced certifications preferred.
• Proven leadership in designing, standardizing, and scaling industrial automation and enterprise‑wide architectures.
• Extensive experience with OT network segmentation, industrial DMZ frameworks, and IoT/IIoT integration.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in SCADA, PLC, OPC, MQTT and other industrial communication protocols.
• Advanced networking principles: complex routing, switching, large‑scale VLAN design.
• Industrial cybersecurity knowledge: ISA/IEC 62443, zero‑trust, firewall strategy, defense‑in‑depth.
• Certifications such as Cisco, Hirschmann/Belden or equivalent industrial networking credentials.
