Principal Data Scientist, SIP

About the role

Invesco’s Advanced Engineering team, the AI centre of excellence, is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to design, build and validate agentic AI systems that address complex financial challenges. Based in Atlanta, you will work with cutting‑edge tools such as Copilot Studio, LangGraph and AgentCore to create multi‑agent workflows and move AI prototypes into production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional teams of software engineers, data engineers and investment professionals to develop AI‑based tools using structured and alternative data.
• Design and implement complex reasoning loops with frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain or AgentCore, turning static LLMs into dynamic, goal‑oriented agents.
• Develop robust evaluation frameworks and gold‑standard datasets to measure generative output performance, faithfulness and accuracy.
• Scale AI initiatives across Invesco Technology by creating reusable patterns, prompt templates, agentic harnesses, skills and sub‑agents using GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.
• Collaborate with full‑stack engineers to integrate AI models into business workflows, converting notebook experiments into functional micro‑services.
• Implement systematic testing (RAG evaluation, stress testing) to meet financial‑services compliance and reliability standards.
• Apply emerging techniques in prompt engineering, fine‑tuning and multi‑agent systems to solve unique business problems.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of demonstrated experience in data science or machine learning.
• Proven ability to lead AI projects from concept to production in a regulated financial environment.
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering and investment teams.
