Principal Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

MANTECH is seeking a Principal Cyber Security Engineer to join its Chantilly, VA team. You will support mission‑critical cybersecurity operations by designing, deploying, and maintaining secure data collection and monitoring solutions for government intelligence agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve data collection issues to ensure accurate ingestion of security‑relevant data.
• Deploy, manage, and maintain Splunk add‑ons, forwarders, and role‑based access controls across the enterprise.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, change management records, system security plans, and accreditation materials.
• Produce comprehensive Splunk deployment documentation covering specifications, methods, and architecture for production environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of cyber experience in lieu of a degree.
• 7+ years of experience in a cybersecurity role, preferably with DoD environments.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Ability to obtain DoD Directive 8570.1 IAT Level II certification within six months if not already held.

Required skills

• Splunk (deployment, add‑ons, forwarders, certification).
• Linux system administration (Red Hat, CentOS).
• Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
• TCP/IP networking and network security concepts.
• AWS or other cloud environments.
• Knowledge of DoD policy, Certification & Accreditation processes, and ICS 500‑27 audit collection requirements.
