PostgreSQL Database Administrator

About the role

The National Security Sector of Leidos is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator with strong systems, software, cloud and Agile experience to support the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). PSPD supports DHS and CBP's critical missions of screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry. The position is hands-on, working across the software development life cycle, and requires being in Ashburn, VA two times per week.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and support effectiveness assessments.
• Design and implement database schemas and structures according to project requirements.
• Maintain documentation for database environments, including data standards and procedures.
• Plan storage requirements and database growth, and scale infrastructure as needed.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures and database design for applications.
• Support on-call schedules and incident resolution.

Required profile

• BS/BA degree and 8+ years of prior relevant DBA experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years; alternatively 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least 4 years' experience tuning Aurora PostgreSQL performance and PL/pgSQL scripts.
• At least 4 years' experience as an AWS Aurora PostgreSQL DBA in a 24x7 environment managing databases over 70TB.
• At least 4 years' experience as an Oracle DBA in a 24x7 environment supporting databases over 200TB.
• Ability to support an on-call schedule and obtain a CBP background investigation before starting.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Required skills

• Aurora PostgreSQL and Oracle database tuning and troubleshooting.
• PL/pgSQL.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
• Preferred: migration of Oracle to Aurora PostgreSQL, generative AI used to tune SQL, CBP Java, AWS data services, CI/CD, Git, and frameworks such as Struts, Hibernate, Angular.

Pay range: $107,900 - $195,050.
