Postdoctoral Scientist – R&D Immunology & Data Analytics

About the role

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join its Data Sciences organization. The role focuses on drug target identification and evaluation for the Immunology therapeutic area, leveraging large‑scale clinical, genetic, omics and cell phenotype data.

Key responsibilities

• Build analytic frameworks that integrate perturbation, ontology and cellular phenotyping with genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics data to enhance target evaluation and patient stratification.
• Apply machine‑learning, network‑based and other computational methods to link molecular targets to disease pathways, predict on‑/off‑target toxicity, and support functional validation.
• Model multimodal data (genetic, transcriptomic, proteomic, functional) to predict pathway activity, synergistic effects, and biomarkers for immune‑mediated diseases.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in a quantitative field with strong biological basis (e.g., Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Statistical Genetics).
• Experience with bulk and single‑cell multi‑omic datasets (RNA expression, proteomics, epigenomics, genetics).
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑moving, goal‑oriented research environment.

Required skills

• Programming proficiency (Python, R) and strong computational skills.
• Knowledge of gene/pathway ontology databases and network analysis techniques.
• Experience with machine‑learning, AI/ML, and advanced analytical approaches such as NLP and large language models.
