Postdoctoral Researcher – Mitochondrial Energetics & Nutrient Utilization

About the role

The Pennington Biomedical Research Center seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to lead independent and collaborative studies in the Mitochondrial Energetics and Nutrient Utilization (MENU) Lab, focusing on clinical dietetics, precision nutrition, and the biological mechanisms linking diet to health.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct independent and collaborative studies on diet‑health mechanisms using advanced metabolic assessments.
• Analyze high‑dimensional multi‑omics and large‑scale dietary datasets (e.g., NHANES) with modern bioinformatics tools.
• Perform complex laboratory techniques such as hyperinsulinemic‑euglycemic clamps, oral glucose tolerance tests, mixed‑meal tolerance tests, mass spectrometry, molecular biology, protein analysis, histology and immunohistochemistry.
• Prepare manuscripts, abstracts and presentations for peer‑reviewed journals and scientific conferences.
• Mentor graduate students, research associates and technicians and contribute to grant writing and laboratory management.

Required profile

• PhD in nutrition, physiology or a closely related biomedical discipline.
• At least two years of experience conducting independent laboratory research in nutrition, metabolism or related fields.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement (publications, presentations).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
