Postdoctoral Researcher – Vascular Metabolism

About the role

The Vascular Metabolism Laboratory at Pennington Biomedical Research Center seeks a postdoctoral researcher to lead independent and collaborative studies on the molecular, cellular, and physiological mechanisms of vascular metabolism and cardiometabolic disease.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute independent and collaborative research projects investigating vascular metabolism.
• Plan, perform, and optimize complex laboratory experiments using advanced molecular, cellular, biochemical, and histological techniques.
• Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens and experimental data with appropriate scientific software and statistical methods.
• Prepare and disseminate findings through peer‑reviewed publications, scientific presentations, and technical reports.
• Contribute to grant proposals, fellowship applications, and progress reports by generating preliminary data.
• Mentor graduate students, research staff, and trainees, providing scientific guidance and technical instruction.

Required profile

• PhD in nutrition, vascular biology, physiology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, cardiovascular science, or a closely related biomedical discipline.
• Demonstrated experience conducting independent laboratory research in vascular biology, metabolism, or cardiovascular physiology.
• Record of scholarly achievement such as peer‑reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
• Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
• Strong scientific writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
