Postdoctoral Research Associate – Computational Biology

About the role

The Copos Group at Northeastern University seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance computational and mathematical models of tissue development, healing, and homeostasis. The position focuses on applying existing theories and methods to biological problems and will run for up to two years.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate, execute, and complete computational and experimental research projects.
• Prepare and write research papers, presentations, and grant proposals.
• Manage laboratory resources and supervise supporting research staff.
• Train graduate students and collaborate with cell and developmental biologists.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field.
• Research experience in mathematical biology, especially theoretical and numerical approaches.
• Ability to work full‑time under the supervision of a senior scholar.

Required skills

• Agent‑based modeling.
• Continuum PDE descriptions.
• Dynamical systems analysis.
• Machine‑learning‑based surrogate model discovery.
• Numerical simulation techniques.
