Postdoctoral Associate – Molecular Research (Hussman Institute)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Hussman Institute is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to conduct molecular research focused on Alzheimer’s disease. Working under the supervision of senior investigators, the associate will apply a range of molecular biology techniques to generate and analyze data that advance our understanding of disease mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments using PCR, cloning, tissue culture, RNA extraction, RT‑PCR and quantitative real‑time PCR.
• Collect blood samples for DNA, iPSC generation and RNA from Alzheimer’s patients and their families.
• Maintain and differentiate iPSC lines into neurons, astrocytes and microglia for functional and genomic studies.
• Operate high‑throughput laboratory instruments and analyze large sequencing datasets.
• Prepare research reports, technical papers and present findings to the scientific community.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
• No prior postdoctoral experience required.
• Strong ability to collect, organize and analyze complex data.
• Sound judgment for problem solving and decision making.

Required skills

• Molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, tissue culture).
• RNA handling (extraction, RT‑PCR, quantitative real‑time PCR).
• iPSC culture and differentiation into neuronal cell types.
• Sequencing data analysis.
