Postdoctoral Associate – Molecular & Cellular Pharmacology

About the role

The Avgousti lab at the University of Miami seeks a full‑time Postdoctoral Associate to conduct independent research at the interface of chromatin biology and molecular virology. The role focuses on uncovering how viruses manipulate host chromatin and translating these insights into therapeutic strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments investigating viral hijacking of chromatin and related immune evasion mechanisms.
• Study chromatin perturbations caused by adenovirus, human cytomegalovirus, and herpesvirus.
• Participate in drug discovery projects targeting antiviral or anticancer pathways.
• Analyze sequencing data and contribute to manuscript preparation.
• Collaborate with the Miller School of Medicine and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant life‑science discipline with a record of productive research (at least one first‑author publication).
• Strong interest in basic mechanistic discovery and its translation to therapy.
• Motivation to develop independent research ideas within a supportive lab environment.
