About the role
The University of Miami’s Ocean Chemistry and Ecosystems Division, in partnership with NOAA’s AOML and GFDL, seeks a post‑doctoral researcher to lead high‑resolution regional ocean biogeochemical model simulations supporting NOAA’s Changing Ecosystems and Fisheries Initiative.
Key responsibilities
- Run and analyze ocean biogeochemical simulations under future climate (SSP) scenarios using the GFDL‑MOM6 North West Atlantic model.
- Interpret large model datasets to assess physical and biogeochemical responses and ecosystem impacts.
- Investigate mechanisms driving ocean change and quantify potential outcomes for coastal and marine resources.
- Present results at scientific meetings and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Participate in MOM6 and CEFI working groups and collaborate with NOAA scientists.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in oceanography or a closely related discipline.
- Post‑doctoral experience in ocean biogeochemistry research.
Required skills
- Ocean or ocean biogeochemical modeling (e.g., MOM6).
- Running climate model simulations on High‑Performance Computing systems.
- Large dataset handling and analysis.
- Proficiency with Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with Matlab, Ferret, and/or Python.
