Port Engineer – Government Experience Preferred

About the role

Patriot Maritime is seeking a Port Engineer to oversee the safe and economical operation of a fleet of government‑contracted vessels. The role supports the U.S. Maritime Administration and Military Sealift Command missions from the New Orleans office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day vessel operations, technical support and safety compliance.
• Monitor and resolve incidents and reports submitted via the Docmap program and SQMS.
• Review class vessel reports, USCG 835 deficiencies and Port State Control findings.
• Coordinate with Chief Engineers on vendor service reports and preventive maintenance records in SAMM.
• Participate in the Incident Response Team and conduct accident or near‑miss investigations.

Required profile

• Active or attainable Secret‑level security clearance.
• Minimum three years experience as a Port Engineer, including negotiation of shipyard availabilities for vessels ≥4,500 DWT and ≥11,500 HP.
• Experience with federal maritime programs such as the Ready Reserve Force or Military Sealift Command is preferred.
