Polysomnographic Technologist – Full‑time (Night/Weekend)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Polysomnographic Technologist to join its Sleep Center. You will conduct sleep studies, support patients with sleep‑related therapies, and ensure accurate data collection and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor brain waves, eye movements, muscle activity, breathing variables, and blood oxygen levels using specialized polysomnography equipment.
• Explain study procedures to patients, apply electrodes and sensors, and fit positive airway pressure (PAP) masks.
• Score sleep and wake stages and clinical events according to accepted guidelines and generate detailed reports.
• Prepare, calibrate, and maintain equipment; manage inventory and ensure patient safety during studies.
• Assist patients with device usage and promote good sleep habits.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in sleep technology.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to prioritize under pressure.
