PLC Engineer – Drilling Rig Control Systems

About the role

We are seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to design, develop, and support advanced control systems for drilling rigs. The role involves hands‑on programming, integration testing, and field support to ensure reliable operation of drilling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement PLC programs for drilling rig control systems (Allen‑Bradley preferred, Siemens acceptable).
• Design and configure SCADA and HMI interfaces for real‑time monitoring.
• Integrate and commission Variable Frequency Drives, primarily ABB and GE Converteam.
• Perform integration testing, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and system setup activities.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose control system issues to minimize downtime.
• Provide technical guidance to field technicians and operations teams.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as functional requirement documents, commissioning records, and release notes.
• Ensure all work complies with industry safety standards and regulations.
• Train junior engineers and technicians on deployment and commissioning procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing and maintaining control systems for drilling rigs.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to rig sites.
