Plant Operations Manager

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Plant Operations Manager to direct and manage contractor personnel and oversee the operation and maintenance of a central plant and its equipment and systems. Work must be performed with the utmost concern for safety and in compliance with environmental permits and regulations. The position requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and may involve travel.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and manage all contractor personnel at the Central Plant and ensure continuous, efficient plant production.
• Manage the operation, maintenance and reconfiguration of equipment, machinery, buildings and facilities, and oversee data collection on specifications, restrictions and construction feasibility.
• Develop the annual plant operating budget, manage spending within it and delegate authority to key supervisors.
• Train and develop department personnel, review performance evaluations and select, motivate and discipline staff to improve production efficiency.
• Maintain relationships with plant bargaining unit leadership and take part in contract negotiations.
• Ensure safety, security, personnel reliability and environmental guidelines are followed, and integrate surety procedures into management.
• Review operational checkout results before authorizing munitions processing operations and report production updates to upper management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 12 years of experience in operations, maintenance or technical leadership, including experience as an operations supervisor of a steam (100,000 lb/hr or greater) and chilled water (8,000 t/hr or greater) plant.
• Experience in generator operation and in managing personnel to improve production efficiency.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph; position may require travel.

Required skills

• Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and facilities monitoring and control systems.
• Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Good oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
