Plant Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Plant Maintenance Mechanic in Decatur. The role covers the repair, maintenance and preventive upkeep of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment on the production floor.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze test results, machine error messages and operator information to diagnose equipment problems.
• Clean, lubricate and adjust parts, equipment and machinery; disassemble and reassemble equipment after inspection, testing or repair.
• Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
• Use voltmeters and other testing devices to observe and test machinery, then operate newly repaired equipment to verify repairs.
• Repair and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, VFDs, conveying systems, industrial printers, valves, photo eyes, heat exchangers and level controls.
• Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components, cut and weld metal to fix parts and fabricate new ones.
• Refer to blueprints and manufacturer manuals for correct installation and operation.
• Program computer-controlled machinery, demonstrate equipment functions to operators and complete scheduled preventative maintenance.
• Respond to production needs on the floor, document maintenance records and work orders accurately and on time, and follow SOPs, federal, state and local safety regulations, and SQF, GMP and 5S guidelines.
• Work any shift, including overtime and weekends as necessary.

Required profile

• Electrical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and multi-craft experience.
• Willingness to work any shift, including overtime and weekends.
