Plant Engineering Controls Engineer/Technologist

About the role

As a Plant Engineering Systems and Controls Engineer/Technologist at 3M, you will design, develop, and commission control solutions for new and existing automated process equipment. You will work closely with global teams, applying your expertise to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide effective control system solutions for a variety of process equipment.
• Develop and design control system architecture.
• Select hardware and deliver software for new process equipment.
• Perform machine installation, commissioning, and start‑up activities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet project milestones.
• Specify and deliver training for the Plant Engineering department.

Required profile

• Associate degree/Technical Diploma + 6 years or Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of experience in machine process control system design and commissioning.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Background in industrial control systems design, safety circuits, and plant building controls.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
