Pipeline Technician

About the role

The Pipeline Technician will travel extensively across Targa's NGL pipeline assets in New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. Working directly in the field, you will ensure the safe operation, maintenance and integrity of natural gas and liquid NGL pipelines and associated facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pipelines, valves, valve operators, filtration and relief systems.
• Troubleshoot, test, and repair reciprocating compression equipment.
• Conduct periodic inspections, complete maintenance records and service reports.
• Respond to one‑call emergencies, locate issues and execute emergency repairs or shutdowns.
• Obtain and maintain DOT qualifications for pipeline tasks.
• Execute routine field start‑up/shut‑down of pipeline equipment.
• Perform integrity testing and support commissioning of new pipelines.
• Prepare operational and regulatory reports.
• Monitor facility operations for optimization and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Train co‑workers on safe job procedures and attend required safety meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in pipeline or related field operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel 50‑75% of the time across the assigned assets.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory safety record.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills for coordination with controllers and support teams.
