Pipeline Engineer – Gas Distribution (Hybrid, San Diego)

About the role

Our client is looking for an Engineer to join the Distribution Operating System team in San Diego. The role supports gas distribution operations and construction procedures, working on‑site Monday‑Thursday and remotely on Fridays.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed step‑by‑step gas handling and construction procedures for pipeline operations and projects.
• Create line drawings, diagrams, and supporting engineering documentation using AutoCAD.
• Support operating procedures for high‑pressure and medium‑pressure gas main systems.
• Collaborate with field construction, technical engineering, and design teams to gather feedback and improve processes.
• Document pipeline operational workflows, pressure systems, valve operations, and control point activities.
• Review and organize engineering process steps to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assist engineering projects related to utility pipeline systems and infrastructure.
• Interpret engineering requirements and apply standard principles in operational environments.
• Participate in process improvements, documentation updates, and efficiency initiatives.
• Occasionally attend field sites to understand execution and construction activities.

Required profile

• 2+ years of engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related petrochemical field.
• Experience with pipeline systems, piping networks or utility infrastructure preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with field and engineering teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with Microsoft Teams.
