Physician – AI Trainer (Remote, Contract)

About the role

Mercor is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible Primary Care Physician to join its AI training team on a contract basis. Working remotely, you will apply your clinical expertise to shape and validate AI models that support healthcare decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Review and annotate clinical text, electronic health record (EHR) data, and patient case notes to identify diagnoses, co‑morbidities, treatment plans, and outcomes.
• Structure complex medical information for AI training and reasoning to enhance decision‑making and care delivery.
• Audit annotated datasets to ensure high clinical accuracy and consistency, validating AI‑generated outputs such as summaries and recommendations.
• Contribute to annotation guidelines, taxonomies, and decision frameworks, defining edge cases and nuanced clinical scenarios.
• Evaluate AI systems for clinical workflows, flagging inaccuracies and providing structured feedback to improve model performance.
• Map real‑world clinical workflows into AI‑compatible processes to support seamless integration into healthcare operations.

Required profile

• MD or DO, board‑certified or board‑eligible.
• Active medical license in good standing.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in inpatient or hospitalist settings.
• Preferred experience in an academic hospital environment.
