Physician Advisor

About the role

MedSchoolCoach seeks experienced physicians to mentor pre‑medical and medical students through the medical school and residency application processes. This part‑time, remote advisory position is ideal for retired or non‑clinical physicians who can dedicate 20+ hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with pre‑medical applicants and medical students applying to residency.
• Conduct one‑on‑one advising sessions, provide written feedback, and support academic and professional development.
• Work with writing advisors on personal statements, activity lists, and essay editing.
• Assist students in creating medical school lists and facilitate mock interviews with constructive feedback.
• Participate in webinars, write blogs, and engage in other outreach activities as needed.

Required profile

• MD or DO degree from a U.S. medical school.
• Previous experience with medical school admissions and/or residency selection.
• Prior mentorship of students or residents.
• Availability of at least 10 hours per week for student support.
• Retired or part‑time clinical physicians are strongly encouraged to apply.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Experience using Zoom, Gmail, Google Meet, and mobile communication apps.
