Physical Therapy Assistant

About the role

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides skilled physical therapy care under the direction of a Physical Therapist, ensuring safe and effective treatment for patients with various impairments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer electrotherapy modalities such as short‑wave diathermy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, TENS, HVGS, and biofeedback.
• Perform traction, therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization, massage, ambulation and transfer training, and patient education.
• Record daily clinical notes, maintain charting compliance with Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, and report significant changes to the referring physician.
• Assist in coordinating patient care activities and maintain a safe, hazard‑free work environment.

Required profile

• Graduation from an accredited therapy assistant program and state registration or certification as required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and strong teamwork.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a commitment to the organization’s mission.

Required skills

• Electrotherapy (ultrasound, TENS, HVGS, biofeedback)
• Traction techniques (cervical and pelvic)
• Therapeutic exercise and neuromuscular re‑education
• Joint mobilization and massage
• Ambulation, transfer training, and ADL instruction
