Physical Therapist I – Full-time, Miami

About the role

The University of Miami’s Department of Physical Therapy is seeking a full‑time Physical Therapist I to deliver therapy and wellness services to patients with functional impairments. The role involves evaluating new patients, creating treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary health‑care team in a clinical setting in Miami, FL.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate new patients, set goals, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Document evaluations, treatments, and patient interactions on a daily basis.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and provide home‑exercise instructions.
• Communicate with physicians and staff to obtain information and suggest treatment adjustments.
• Use rehabilitation tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain productivity standards and adjust schedule when clinic needs arise.
• Participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
• Orient, instruct, and supervise assistants and support personnel.
• Develop and adapt learning programs based on patient response.
• Follow university and unit policies, protecting institutional assets.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Valid State of Florida Physical Therapist license.
• No prior professional experience required.
• Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
