Phlebotomist – Full‑Time

About the role

The University of Miami Health Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Phlebotomist 1 to join the U‑Tower Hospital team. You will draw blood, verify patient records, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis while providing compassionate care to diverse patient populations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient phlebotomy following the department’s procedure manual and patient identification protocols.
• Prioritize hematology and oncology specimens, pre‑accession samples, and accurately match orders with labels.
• Answer inquiries about test requisitions, specimen requirements, and priority changes.
• Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and keep accurate log and file systems.
• Assist supervisors with statistical reporting, cancellations, credits, and test additions.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and confidential information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomist certification and HIV certification.
• Minimum one year of relevant phlebotomy experience.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize under pressure, and discretion with confidential data.
• Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Commitment to the University’s core values and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
