Phlebotomist 2 – Full‑time, Fort Lauderdale

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Phlebotomist 2 to join its UHealth Laboratories team in Fort Lauderdale. The incumbent will draw and collect blood samples, verify patient records, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis while providing courteous patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient phlebotomy using the techniques outlined in the department manual, prioritising hematology and oncology cases.
• Accession specimens, match orders and labels, and ensure accurate patient identification.
• Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and document specimen handling according to SOPs.
• Answer queries on test requisitions, specimen requirements, and priority changes.
• Prepare, package, log and transport specimens for routine, STAT, and specialty testing.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant phlebotomy experience.
• Current Phlebotomy certification.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy and venipuncture techniques.
• Specimen collection and handling.
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems (e.g., UChart).
