Phlebotomist 2 – Full-time at University of Miami

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pathology is seeking a full‑time Phlebotomist 2 to join its laboratory team. In this role you will draw and collect blood samples, verify patient records, and prepare specimens for analysis while providing courteous, patient‑focused service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient phlebotomy following the department’s procedure manual.
• Prioritize hematology and oncology patient collections.
• Pre‑accession specimens, match and organize daily orders and labels.
• Verify patient identification and resolve test requisition issues.
• Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and manage specimen storage.
• Accurately maintain files, logs, and generate statistical reports.
• Process cancellations, credits, and additions of test procedures.
• Receive, unpack, date, and store supplies according to manufacturer recommendations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of relevant phlebotomy experience.
• Current Phlebotomist Certification.
• HIVBLS certification.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy techniques and blood collection procedures.
• Use of laboratory and hospital information systems for accessioning.
• Inventory management and specimen handling.
