Pharmacy Technician 3 – Full‑Time at Deerfield

About the role

The UHealth system at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Pharmacy Technician 3 for its Deerfield location. The role involves preparing medications, supporting pharmacists, and handling advanced compounding under supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, input, and verify prescription, refill, and patient information while maintaining accurate records.
• Fill orders, prepare unit‑dose and pre‑packaged labels, and ensure proper medication dispensing.
• Implement inventory control procedures, order supplies, and anticipate pharmacy medication needs.
• Perform hazardous and specialized compounding, including chemotherapy, epidural, ophthalmology, CADD pumps, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN).
• Serve as Pharmacy Technician Coordinator and cross‑train in major department roles as needed.
• Participate in temporary task forces or short‑term committees.
• Resolve prescription inquiries and provide preceptorship for students and new technicians.
• Mentor peers and stay current with advanced pharmacy dispensing practices.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• State of Florida registration and relevant specialty certification.
• Minimum of 4 years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Strong data‑entry accuracy and ability to maintain detailed records.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with professional composure.
