Pharmacy Compounding Room Supervisor (Full-Time)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Pharmacy Compounding Room Supervisor to lead safe sterile and non‑sterile compounding operations. The role ensures compliance with USP 797, USP 800, USP 795 and Florida Board of Pharmacy regulations while supporting patient‑centered medication preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive compounding services for patients, adhering to USP and state regulations.
• Educate and train pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff on USP 797, USP 800, and related compliance.
• Maintain ISO‑classified area airflow and verify that all products meet sterile compounding standards.
• Conduct routine environmental sampling, coordinate semi‑annual recertifications, and ensure equipment operates per manufacturer specifications.
• Develop, write, and review sterile compounding procedures and competency testing programs.
• Monitor drug shortages, collaborate with purchasing, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Participate in departmental committees, including the UHealth Compounding Committee.

Required profile

• Experience in sterile and non‑sterile pharmacy compounding within a hospital or academic setting.
• Strong knowledge of USP 797, USP 800, USP 795 and Florida Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Proven ability to train and mentor pharmacy staff and conduct competency assessments.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to manage drug‑shortage challenges.
