Pharmacist – Full Time, Day Shift

About the role

Parkwest Medical Center, the flagship facility of Covenant Health in West Knoxville, is seeking a full‑time pharmacist to join its inpatient pharmacy team. The position works day shifts and provides essential medication management, patient counseling, and support to clinical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Compound, label, and package medications and pharmaceuticals.
• Review patient medication profiles for drug compatibilities, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Clarify medication orders and dosages with physicians as needed.
• Provide drug information to physicians, healthcare professionals, and patients.
• Assist nursing staff with infusion rate calculations and IV drip preparation.
• Dispense investigational drugs in compliance with study protocols.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, verify order entry, and oversee inpatient/outpatient dispensing.
• Educate patients and families on medication use, dosage, side effects, and storage.
• Maintain secure storage of narcotics and controlled substances and conduct monthly unit inspections.
• Prepare computerized reports such as medication administration records and automated drug cabinet usage.
• Participate in community pharmacy education programs and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Licensed pharmacist with ability to perform clinical medication reviews.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations and hospital medication safety standards.
• Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and managing medication dispensing processes.
