Personnel Security Specialist I - Intake

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Personnel Security Specialist I to complete personnel security suitability intake tasks in support of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Protective Services (FPS), Personnel Security Division. The work is done in a traditional office environment.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate background investigations.
• Manage receipt of security documents submitted by contractor applicants.
• Conduct fingerprinting procedures.
• Verify the appropriate level of background investigation requested and ensure all documents required for suitability processing are completed and included in the individual files.
• Prepare, submit, monitor and update computer tracking systems for case material.
• Apply incident management, problem solving and task performance skills, and participate in special projects.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, and at least three years of relevant experience.
• Experience in one or more security and/or intelligence fields (technical, physical, information, industrial, personnel or operational security).
• Hands-on experience in one or more security and intelligence disciplines, and experience implementing complex government security and intelligence programs and policies is preferable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required to maintain it.
• Highly organized, with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with ISMS, eQIP, CVS and/or DISS is preferred but not required.
