Per‑diem Surgical Technician – University of Miami

About the role

The University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Per‑diem Surgical Technician to support operative services. You will be responsible for preparing the surgical suite, maintaining a sterile field, and ensuring equipment readiness for a variety of procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure environmental safety for patients and staff.
• Maintain a sterile field by practicing aseptic technique and labeling medications and solutions.
• Return used instruments for decontamination and restock supplies for upcoming cases.
• Clean and sterilize surgical instruments, assist with inventory control, and order supplies as needed.
• Uphold confidentiality of all medical, financial, and employee information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification, or license.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a surgical technician or in a comparable role.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
