About the role

The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami is seeking a Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist to join the Deerfield Beach campus. You will perform routine and specialized sonographic examinations, ensuring high‑quality diagnostic images for patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex sonographic procedures across all difficulty levels.
• Operate ultrasound scanners and related equipment following radiation safety protocols under radiologist supervision.
• Ensure diagnostic quality of scans by applying extensive knowledge of ultrasound techniques and disease processes.
• Make preliminary interpretations to highlight suspected pathology for the attending physician.
• Verify patient orders, gather clinical information, and assist physicians with invasive procedures.
• Provide patient education, reassurance, and appropriate preparation instructions.
• Maintain and clean equipment, report malfunctions, and conduct quality‑assurance tests.
• Perform portable bedside examinations and train students, residents, and fellows.
• Complete required documentation, enter reports, and adhere to safety and infection‑control standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant sonography experience.
• ARDMS registration and current CPR certification.
• Ability to follow university and unit policies and safeguard assets.
