About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Staff Physician specializing in surgery and trauma to provide high‑quality medical care to patients on an as‑needed basis. The physician will work within the medical staff framework, handling patient assignments aligned with their expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural aspects.
• Perform respectful physical assessments of patients.
• Prescribe appropriate medical treatments and clinical drugs.
• Gather accurate patient information through record review and interviews with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Report to the responsible physician and comply with policy co‑signatures.
• Notify appropriate personnel of hazardous conditions, equipment malfunctions, or supply issues.
• Document all Quality Assurance incidents, including medication errors, per department guidelines.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding institutional assets.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant clinical experience.
• Appropriate medical licensure and certifications as required by the department.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
