Per Diem Staff Physician – Anesthesiology

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Staff Physician specialized in Anesthesiology to deliver safe, high‑quality anesthesia care to patients in both hospital and ambulatory settings. The role involves direct patient care, supervision of anesthesia teams, and participation in educational programs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia to patients in hospital or ambulatory settings.
• Interview and treat clinical patients, developing comprehensive treatment plans that address biological, psychological, and sociocultural domains.
• Perform physical assessments, prescribe medical treatments and clinical drugs.
• Supervise Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) and Clinical Anesthesiology Resident personnel.
• Report hazardous conditions, equipment malfunctions, and quality‑assurance incidents.
• Participate in anesthesiology residency, medical student education, and continuing medical education programs.
• Optional involvement in on‑call anesthesiology schedule.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree.
• Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology.
• Current licensure to practice medicine in Florida or the appropriate jurisdiction.
• Experience providing anesthesia in hospital or ambulatory settings.
• Ability to supervise CRNA and resident physicians.
• Commitment to continuing education and quality‑assurance reporting.
