Per Diem Registered Nurse – Specialty Ambulatory Unit

About the role

The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse 1 to provide patient‑family centered care in the Ambulatory Unit. This position delivers culturally competent, evidence‑based nursing services while supporting a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Report symptoms, vital sign changes, and diagnostic test results to the care team.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests safely, maintaining accurate records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning, operate medical equipment, and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Current RN licensure and required certifications.
