Per-Diem Registered Nurse – Outpatient Clinics & Research

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a Per‑Diem Registered Nurse to support outpatient clinics and research activities. This position provides patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent environment, adhering to evidence‑based standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Report symptoms, vital sign changes, and diagnostic test results to the care team.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests safely, maintaining accurate records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and transition of care using best practices.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an ACEN or CCNE‑accredited program.
• Minimum two (2) years of relevant nursing experience.
• Current, valid State of Florida RN license.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and adapt to changing clinical demands.
