Per Diem Pediatric Hospitalist (Physician)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Staff Physician to provide pediatric hospital medicine coverage at Holtz Children’s Hospital. This role involves direct inpatient care for children and newborns, as well as educational responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct care to pediatric in‑patients on General Pediatrics and Newborn wards.
• Manage newborn care in the Mother‑Baby Unit.
• Offer consultations for hospitalized pediatric patients across services.
• Perform peri‑operative optimization for pediatric patients at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
• Coordinate pediatric subspecialty care and participate in quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Engage in committee work and lead academic projects in education, quality, safety, or administration.
• Contribute to medical student, resident, and fellow education.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid and unrestricted Florida medical license (or eligibility to obtain).
• Board eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Required skills

• Maintain continuing medical education (CME) to satisfy institutional and state licensing requirements.

What we offer

• Compensation of $770 per day of coverage.
• Faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor level.
