Per Diem CT Scan Technologist

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Per Diem CT Scan Technologist to join the Department of Radiology in Deerfield, FL. You will operate CT equipment to produce high‑quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety and minimal radiation exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Review CT orders for protocol appropriateness and resolve discrepancies.
• Verify patient identity and obtain consents before each exam.
• Operate CT scanners and related equipment following radiation safety procedures.
• Position patients correctly, use immobilization and protective devices, and administer oral contrast or power‑injector contrast as required.
• Evaluate technical quality of scans, label and transmit images to PACS.
• Maintain aseptic technique and keep the work area clean and stocked.
• Report unusual findings promptly to the supervising radiologist.
• Assist in training students and new technologists.

Required profile

• Independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in a clinical setting.
• Ability to follow regulatory guidelines (Joint Commission, ACR, FL DOH, FDA/MQSA).
• Strong attention to detail and patient‑centered communication.

Required skills

• CT scanner operation and image acquisition.
• Radiation safety procedures.
• Contrast media administration, including power injector use.
• PACS image handling and labeling.
• Patient positioning and use of immobilization equipment.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and universal precautions.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards for imaging modalities.
