PCB Designer - New Grad (R6065)

About the role

Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company building aircraft and autonomy software, with offices and facilities across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. As a PCB Designer (new graduate) you will create the layouts that support its aircraft, working closely with electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers to turn schematics and requirements into robust, manufacturable PCBA designs.

Key responsibilities

• Create PCB layouts for complex digital, analog, RF, high-speed and power electronics designs.
• Plan and manage PCB stack-ups with fabrication vendors and manufacturing engineers.
• Partner with electrical engineers to interpret schematics, routing rules and design intent.
• Work with mechanical engineers on board form factor, connector positioning and placement constraints.
• Apply best practices for signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, impedance control and thermal/EMI mitigation.
• Run design reviews, incorporate feedback and ensure manufacturability, reliability and compliance with company standards.
• Generate and maintain manufacturing documentation such as Gerber/ODB++ files, fabrication and assembly notes and drawings.
• Work with manufacturing engineering so designs meet supplier DFM requirements.

Required profile

• BS in Engineering.
• Direct experience designing a PCB, from projects or professional exposure.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-2221/2222, IPC-7351).
• Knowledge of PCB materials, manufacturing processes and stack-up construction.
• Controlled-impedance routing, differential pairs, length matching and high-current power distribution.
• Scripting and automation.
