Pay Station Clerk

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Pay Station Clerk in its Kearney store. The role keeps the dining and checkout experience running smoothly: operating the register, helping customers with their orders and keeping the area clean and well-stocked. It is an hourly position in a fast-paced retail and dining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, learn their names and give prompt, friendly service
• Scan products and process payments including cash, checks, credit cards, in-store charges, coupons and discounts
• Count back change, issue receipts and bag or box merchandise for customers
• Keep supplies of silverware, condiments and beverage cups available and maintain the coffee service area
• Help buss tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille sit-down areas and run orders from food stations
• Follow sanitation procedures, keep the work area clean and answer the telephone promptly
• Work as a team, help in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned
• Follow Hy-Vee policies, dress standards and hygiene rules, and report to work on time

Required profile

• No education or experience required; training is provided
• Ability to follow written or verbal instructions and work with a few concrete variables
• Ability to perform arithmetic with fractions, decimals and percentages and make change accurately
• Team player who communicates supply needs orally or in writing
• Frequent standing and walking, and where applicable, safe use of sharp knives and blades and exposure to heat and cleaning chemicals
