Patient Transporter – Interventional Radiology (Per Diem)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Patient Transporter to support the Interventional Radiology department. This part‑time, intermittent position involves moving patients and visitors safely throughout the hospital while maintaining privacy and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Transport patients and visitors between departments, admissions, discharges, and ancillary areas while preserving confidentiality.
• Assist at the main lobby greeting patients and facilitating transport between assignments.
• Verify patient identity by checking name and date of birth against the armband before movement.
• Practice proper body mechanics when transferring or lifting patients.
• Obtain and transport patient paperwork or charts.
• Monitor oxygen and IV equipment during transport and report any changes to nursing staff.
• Report defective equipment and keep hallways clear of stretchers, wheelchairs, and other items.
• Participate in emergency drills, infection‑control precautions, and use personal protective equipment as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• No prior experience required.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with professional composure.
