Patient Transporter – Full-Time

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Patient Transporter to support safe and timely movement of patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the hospital and clinics. This full‑time position works varied shifts, including days, nights, on‑calls and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Retrieve medical records, laboratory results, supplies and medications for transport.
• Notify nursing staff when patients leave and return to their units.
• Ensure patient charts accompany patients during transport and that all transports meet assigned time parameters.
• Collect and safely deliver specimens and blood products to the appropriate departments.
• Inspect oxygen cylinders before transport to confirm they are full and safe.
• Restock supplies, clean and disinfect reusable equipment, and maintain accurate transport logs.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent (or relevant experience).
• No prior experience required; on‑the‑job training provided.
• Strong learning agility to adopt new procedures, technologies and protocols.
• Effective teamwork and clear written and verbal communication skills.
